What WAS the Vote Against Carter?
Just talked to Trustee Jack Brick -- he says he's putting a call into the CUSD attorney this morning because he opposed the effort to place Superintendent A. Woodrow Carter on paid leave.
After a four-hour closed session, Board President Ellen Addonizio announced the vote was 6-1, with Anna Bryson opposed to the move. Brick told me this morning he was also opposed.
As far as Brick's quick exit -- he left the meeting without retaking his seat at the dais -- he said that was out of concern for his wife, Colleen, who was in the audience all that time. She'd been in a recent car accident and he was concerned about her.
He'd hoped the meeting would have been much shorter, Brick said, and with a different outcome.
This makes sense - of all of the recall trustees, Mr. Brick seems to be the one with the most integrity and the biggest concern for children. They should be able to correct the minutes to reflect his vote accurately at the next board meeting, even though it doesn't make a difference in the long run.

Or, is President Addonizio's misrepresentation of the vote by trustees just another example of her bold face lying to the public. She still denies searching through Carter's office when he was away; said just two days ago that the possible firing of Carter was just a wild rumor. I think we are seeing a pattern here. Addonizio may be a pathological liar, not even recognizing that she is straying from the truth.

Heard it all before--Right On!!
Didn't Ms. Addonizio add in her comments that everyone overreacting to the "wild rumor" about firing Carter should "show some respect" to the trustees. Respect is earned and most of the trustees have done nothing to earn my respect! Is this behavior how we restore honesty, integrity and oh..I forget the last lie of this groups slogan.
Thank you Mr. Brick for not being bullied by the bullies and having the integrity to correct the record.

Addonizio cannot count to seven but she will fix this district. Right

This does make sense. I hope Mr. Brick makes it very clear that the vote was really 5-2. And Mr. Maddox? Did you vote yes too or did you get bullied into that? Guess Ms A wanted the group to show a united front but couldn't quite deliver. To all who really care about CUSD and the kids - get the word out to EVERYONE you can!!!

It won't take long before this group self implodes.
Idiots.

It would certainly help if they could give us "nobody" constituents solid reasons for firing Carter and how they will replace him and all of the costs involved...If we KNEW there was a REAL reason, we could get behind the trustees and move on...but right now as it sits, it looks like petty politics because Carter said he locked his office door and felt like his privacy had been invaded.
Anyone know if "regular" folks have been emailing the district and if so- what is their attitude? It would be nice to see if the misnomer that it was only paid staff of 500 at that meeting last night is true or not.
Doesn't the board have to give a reason in a public hearing? I thought due process had to be given legally, where they put the accusations out in public and both Carter and the constituents get time to speak their piece. Is this why it was a paid administrative leave instead of an actual termination and that is why President Ellen said this meeting is just a continuation and would probably continue on the 12th, and the 20th until it was resolved to the PALS coordinator Julie Collier?

Well?
I was there last night until well after midnight and there were hundreds of non-paid staff present - parents and students - who supported Mr. Carter. And yes, regular folks have been emailing and calling the district and our trustees. If you need some email addresses, let me know.
And don't feel like a "nobody" constituent. Apparently, the trustees who are on speaking terms with Mr. Carter, namely Ms. Bryson and Mr. Brick, have been kept in the dark, too. Hmmm! Doesn't seem very transparent, does it?
