LOS ANGELES – A former California Highway Patrol officer accused of taking money from a civilian victim and removing money from a CHP vehicle pleaded guilty today, the District Attorney’s Office announced.
Deputy District Attorney Alfred Coletta of the Justice System Integrity Division said Matthew Aguilar, 28, pleaded to one misdemeanor count of grand theft of personal property.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Richard Kemalyan immediately sentenced the defendant to two years of probation and 150 hours of court-approved community service.
Under the terms of a negotiated settlement, the defendant was required to pay the civilian victim $665 and the CHP $565, prior to entering his plea.
