Sorry, I was out yesterday; playing catch up today ...
Capistrano Unified School District trustees on Monday restored five furlough days for the 2010-11 school year and 3.5 days for the 2011-12 calendar for non-teaching employees, a move the board majority contends was required under the contract with the California School Employees Association because CUSD received additional money from the state.
As they did when some of the furlough days in the teachers’ contract was restored, Trustees Ellen Addonizio and Sue Palazzo voted against the move. They are unconvinced the “triggers” in the contract for the restoration have been met. Addonizio again questioned the wisdom of restoring the days, at a cost of $1.9 million, when the district faces a multi-million-dollar budget deficit.
Even CSEA leader Ronda Walen noted the irony when addressing the board on the issue, but said the terms of the contract were clear and the days needed to be restored. She noted, however, that CSEA employees recognize the dire financial situation school districts face.
As districts throughout California have moved into their budget process, school leaders have told elected officials to prepare two budgets; one with modest cuts and one with severe cuts. But that advice considered the potential of voters extending taxes in California. That is no longer feasible, and CUSD officials are preparing for another round of massive cuts.

To the last few people who haven't given up on the Republican Party after their antics in the recent CUSD election:
One of the OCGOP central committee members sent out an email showing a family of chimps, and President Obama's face is photoshopped into the baby's face. You can read about it here:

It's ok, BTW, that the lady sent this because she has "black friends." Wotta maroon.

It is unbelievable to me that there are people that still harbor these views. Even more mind boggling is that these people send it out in an email. How clueless. There will be more that do it too. They'll never learn.
'Funny' how it's almost always a republican. She doesn't even think that she did anything wrong either.

Right, because we all know there are no idiot democrats. Seriously? I'm a Republican, conservative, and a Christian, and I take great offense to what she did. Don't blame it on her political affiliation- she is a dope regardless.

Her comments do represent many within the OC GOP. This is the Central Committee and party that have given us Tony Beall, Jim Reardon, Wayne Tate and Craig Alexander. This is the same bunch of hate mongers that are trying to make Trustee Alpay's life so miserable on the Central Committee partly because he isn't like them. The Democrats have lots of problems but they are far more tolerant of associating with people that don't agree with them 100% - or have a different skin color

Why is it that every republican has to add "and a Christian" to everything? How is that relevant to this discussion? I'll bet this lady that sent the racist email is "a Christian" too huh.

Trump run? I'd think we'd all learned our lesson with our former governor, a self-made, not-beholden man who left California in shambles.

I believe the intent of the "Run Trump! Run! Please? - The Democrats" moniker is a joke and a bit of wishful thinking on we Democrat's part ; )
These are the same people (GOP) that wanted to change the constitution so that Ahhhnold could run for president. These are the same people that repeat the "American exceptionalism" mantra ad nauseam.
American exceptionalism is not lacking because of Obama, I can tell you that much.
