San Juan Capistrano residents are looking for help in getting donations and other help to replace the "Flag on the Hill" which can be seen from most of San Juan Capistrano.
Well, it could be seen, anyhow, before those tornado-velocity winds tore through town during the last storms. They toppled the flag pole, which had been put up by an Eagle Scout, who also built the base. His effort formalized a tribute that went up on the hill after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
The flag is perched on a hill on the east side of town, overlooking the San Diego Freeway and is at the terminus of the popular "Patriot's Trail." There's a book there, too, for folks to sign and leave thoughts.
