Dear Friend of The Dispatch,
We are excited to announce some changes that we believe will strengthen our business and better position The Capistrano Dispatch for the long-term.
Starting in March, we are making three strategic moves that will better allow us to provide our community with the news and information that has helped us become San Juan’s favorite hometown newspaper.
1) New Print Frequency:
All of you purists out there will rejoice in hearing we’re returning to our twice-monthly schedule in March. We’ll publish 26 issues per year and continue to serve the community with the very best distribution network around featuring direct-to-driveway delivery and retail locations in town. We’ll publish on the second and fourth Fridays and produce two special standalone issues—our Swallows Day preview and our High School Football Preview.
2) Enhanced Online Reporting:
Ever since joining forces with the SC Times and moving to the new Web platform, our online traffic has been increasing. With daily news updates, email blasts, education news and topical blogs, weekly online reader polls, an online restaurant guide and the area’s best event calendar, www.thecapistranodispatch.com has grown to an average of more than 45,000 page views per month.
3) El Despacho Returns:
In recognition of the growing needs and demands of the area’s Latino community, we are planning to launch a new, improved El Despacho serving the communities of San Juan, San Clemente, Dana Point and parts of Mission Viejo and Laguna Niguel. Published monthly, El Despacho will feature translated versions of many of the stories read in The Dispatch and its sister papers the San Clemente Times and Dana Point Times as well as unique columns and stories about the area’s Latino community. We’ll distribute 15,000 copies each month and have a Web presence as well.
Needless to say, we’re excited about these changes and hope you are too. We will contact you regarding your current advertising program and how we can best customize your plan for our new frequency. Both our sister papers--the SC Times and DP Times--will continue as weeklies. Thanks for support for the past six years. We look forward to working with you for at least that many more!
Best,
Norb Garrett, The Capistrano Dispatch Publisher
